Lost hikers found 100 yards from parking lot

Six hikers lost their way on Jan. 24 after leaving the Gregory Canyon Trailhead, heading toward the Bluebell Shelter.

The hikers became lost after nightfall when they could no longer see the
trail. Members of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Rocky
Mountain Rescue Group, Boulder Fire Rescue and Boulder City Open Space
and Mountain Parks responded to the situation.

According to a Boulder County Sheriff’s report, the hikers were found less than 100 yards from the parking lot, safe and warm. They were assisted down by the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group.

Man arrested for carrying concealed weapon

Boulder police officers arrested a 33-year-old Nederland man on municipal charges of carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a weapon on Jan. 30.

The suspect was accused of holding a knife and yelling while walking in the 900 block of Pearl Street. When police arrived, the suspect slid the knife into his sleeve. According to the police report, he was arrested at gunpoint because of safety concerns.

Suspicious bag detonated

On Jan. 29, Boulder police responded to a suspicious bag found propped against the front stairs of the Police Annex Building in the 1300 block of College Avenue. After consulting with bomb technicians, police decided to use a water charge to detonate the bags.

Afterwards, officers inspected the contents, but no explosive devices were found. Some roads were closed during the investigation due to possible safety concerns.
