Robert de Long

8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, The Fox Theatre, 1135 13th St., Boulder, 720-645-2467.

Are we free to forge our own destinies in life? Are the paths to our lives already decided? When it comes down to it, is there really a difference? These are the questions posed by Robert de Long’s new album, which he will be probing in different ways in his performance at the Fox Theatre. In the Cards, de Long’s second album, fearlessly combines electronic influences like house, techno and trip-hop with rock composition and emotion. Following the 2013 success of his “Global Concepts” single, the Washington native is touring the country trying to answer these questions through music. Through his one-man-band set up and high-intensity performances, Robert de Long’s show will combine pointed lyrics concerning jealous lovers, duplicitous politicians and religious hypocrites to get the audience both thinking and grooving.
