While
Rick Accountius has a lengthy resume when it comes to local civic and
political experience, having served on many community advisory boards,
we are more impressed with Jeff Moore’s early and steady commitment to
the fracking ban and his even-keeled, open-minded approach, which never
comes across as politically motivated. We like that Moore recognizes
the need to balance economic development and growth to enhance
Longmont’s quality of life, an acknowledgement that managing growth is
sometimes necessary, as opposed to Accountius’ declaration that no
growth limits are needed at all. Their performance in the Longmont
Chamber of Commerce’s candidate debate on Oct. 10 simply confirmed our
position. Our endorsement goes to Moore.
