Lindsay Lohan won’t be released from jail this week, sheriff’s official says

LOS ANGELESLindsay Lohan will not be getting out of jail this week, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

When the actress began her 90-day sentence for
violating the terms of her probation on a 2007
driving-under-the-influence conviction, sheriff’s officials said they
expected her to serve at least 13 days, which would bring her release
date to Aug.1 at the earliest.

“She won’t be released this week,” Steve Whitmore, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman, said Monday.

Lohan, 24, is serving time at Lynwood’s
Century Regional Detention Facility, where she is being held alone in a
cell to keep her away from other inmates. She has been visited by her
mother, her sister, her lawyer and a former lawyer since surrendering
Tuesday.

With the new week, Lohan will now be able to buy
goodies, such as ramen noodles, from the jail commissary. According to
law enforcement sources, after an initially tough period as she
adjusted to jail life, Lohan has in recent days been mostly quiet and
subdued.

According to Sheriff’s Department officials,
Lohan’s 13 days are based on the assumption that she behaves. That
would mean she would have to serve only 51 days of her 90-day sentence,
but because of overcrowding in county jails and because she is a
nonviolent female offender, she will serve only a quarter of that time.
