Local governments are seeking public input on a number of ongoing projects. Find those opportunities below.
Boulder County
On June 17, Boulder County is holding a town hall about Gross Reservoir, which Denver has been planning to expand for several years to increase its water supply. The project — which involves raising the Gross Dam walls by 131 feet and triple the reservoir's holding capacity — has faced heavy opposition in Boulder County and is currently entangled in a lawsuit brought by environmental groups.
A May 29 ruling allowed Denver Water to restart construction to address safety concerns but forbids additional tree removal or filling of the reservoir once complete. The ruling comes after an October 2024 court judgement which found that the project's issued permits violated federal environmental laws, and an April ruling that halted construction.
Denver Water subsequently argued that stopping work was a public safety issue, according to reporting from Colorado Sun, including the risk of flooding. A May 29 ruling allowed construction to resume, but only work "considered necessary for public safety," as Water Education Colorado reported.
Permits will need to be reissued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the judge ruled, with consideration given to the impacts of climate change and potential future drought on the Colorado River and Western Slope waterways.
Community members are invited to discuss their concerns about the Gross Reservoir expansion project at an in-person town hall, which begins at 5:30 p.m. at Clear Creek Community Center, 31528 Highway 72, in Golden.

City of Boulder
On June 17, the city will host a community workshop to gather community input on a planned “educational, reflective and healing trail” at the Fort Chambers / Poor Farm open space property. The site was used to train U.S. soldiers who participated in the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre. Boulder and representatives from Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes last year created a collaborative stewardship plan for the land.
Residents are being asked to weigh in on which “ideas, stories or themes” to include along the healing trail. The open house will be from 5-6:30 p.m. at 2520 55th St. An online questionnaire will be available until June 30.

Town of Superior
Superior is soliciting feedback on an update to the town’s comprehensive plan, a document that guides long-term planning decisions.
The online survey invites residents to weigh in on the plan’s vision and values as well as identified areas for future development.
