Thrive, Wonder Press close; Cheba Hut, Lotus Moon open

Boulder County food news for Dec. 10, 2024

Closings: The vegan restaurant Thrive has closed at 1509 Arapahoe Ave. Wonder Press has closed at 1139 Francis St. in Longmont, but the juicery’s Boulder location remains open. 

Openings: Lotus Moon has opened in the former Black Pepper Pho space at 2770 Pearl St., serving Vietnamese vegan fare. Cheba Hut is open at 1346 Pearl St., former site of Lazy Dog Bar & Grill and Rocky Mountain Records & Tapes. The cannabis-inspired sub chain was originally located on The Hill from 2004-2019. As of October 2024, the company has 69 locations across 16 states.

Coming soon: Kalita Grill Greek Cafe, 801 S. Public Road, Lafayette. Kalita's original Boulder location is next door to Tiffins India Cafe and Cold Stone Creamery. Kalita has been pursuing a Lafayette outpost since at least November of last year.


Culinary Calendar

Expand your relleno consciousness at the first Festival del Chile Relleno through Dec. 16 at Denver’s La Diabla restaurants. Rellenos from seven Mexican states will be featured.

Sweets and hot chocolate, plus the big menorah lighting and live music, are on the menu for Hanukkah on Pearl Dec. 30 on the Pearl Street Mall’s courthouse lawn. It’s free, but registration is requested. Details: boulderjcc.org
