Boulder City Council
At the May 2 regular meeting, council will:
- Take a preliminary vote on designating a habitat conservation area west of Highway 36 just north of Boulder called North Foothills by establishing boundaries and giving the city some management authority. The Open Space and Mountain Parks department uses conservation areas to protect and provide habitat for “Boulder’s rare plants and animals,” and come with certain requirements like restricting travel to trails. According to the city’s website, North Foothills provides habitat for rattlesnakes, horned lizards, yellow-flowered Bell’s Twinpods and birdsfoot violets. A final vote is scheduled after a June 20 public hearing.
- Check in on a plan to develop 79 two- and three-bedroom townhouses on an empty property at the northwest corner of Spine Road and Gunbarrel Avenue (4600 Highway 119), called the Spine Road Town Home Development.
- Hold a public hearing and vote to designate the building and property at 2120 Bluebell Ave., named the Frankboner-Hartman-Ely House, as a historic landmark. The Landmarks Board unanimously recommended the designation in March.
This meeting will start at 7 p.m., an hour later than usual, because of a Youth Opportunities Advisory Board dinner.
