Erie surpassed 40,000 residents in 2024

Town grew 9.1% last year, added 1,195 homes

Erie’s population grew by 9.1% last year, according to an estimate from town officials, to 40,183 people. The addition of more than 3,300 people resulted in the fastest rate of growth in the past three years.

The end-of-year estimate used data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the State Demography Office (SDO) along with information from the Town of Erie, such as building permits. Erie added 1,195 homes in 2024, according to a town press release, including 252 multi-family dwelling units.

The vast majority of Erie residents live in single-family homes: 38,056, or 94.7%. Just 2,127 people live in multi-family housing.

  • Boulder Fire-Rescue sent a fire engine and four firefighters to help with the California wildfires, the city announced Jan. 10. The team is part of a larger delegation from the Front Range that includes five engines. The crew will remain in California for up to two weeks, according to city officials.

  • Fiber internet will be available in Superior after the town board on Dec. 9 approved contracts with Broomfield-based Intrepid and Metronet, an Indiana internet service provider that was purchased by T-Mobile last year for $4.9 billion. Design plans are being drafted now, to be followed by installation.
