Town of Erie

The Colorado Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) will hold a public hearing on the proposed Draco Pad oil and gas project on Oct. 29, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Erie Middle School, 650 Main St.

The pad will be located in Weld County, but 26 wells are planned to stretch for five miles underground, crossing U.S. 287 and into Boulder County.

Erie does not have jurisdiction over the project, which was approved by Weld County in February. State officials plan to vote on the application Nov. 6.

Boulder City Council

There is no meeting the week of Oct. 31. Council will reconvene Nov. 7 to:

  • Take a final vote on a plan to raise the city’s minimum wage in 2025.
  • Review development plans for 183 dwelling units at 1840 and 1844 Folsom St.; a third-story addition to 2040 14th St.; and annexation of 2810 Jay Road.

Longmont City Council

At its Oct. 22 meeting, council:

  • Approved the 2024 budget, which calls for $473.5 million in city spending. The budget is 6.7% larger than last year’s, and includes increases in the city’s electric and sewer rates of 6.8% and 10%, respectively. The city added 18 new full-time employees to the 2025 budget, for a total of 1,161 FTE.

Boulder County Commissioners

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, the commissioners will:

  • Discuss homelessness with the Consortium of Cities (CoC). The CoC includes representatives from Boulder County’s cities and towns; they meet to discuss regional issues such as affordable housing, mental health, disaster response, etc.

The Oct. 30 agenda also includes an update on local efforts to increase the minimum wage, and a report from the Area Agency on Aging. The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. on the third floor of the historic Boulder County courthouse (1325 Pearl St., Boulder). A link to attend virtually will be posted to boco.org/COC.

On Thursday, Oct. 31, commissioners will:

  • Hold a public hearing and vote on extending the Lyons Planning Area Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA). The IGA was first signed in 2002; it was replaced with a new plan in 2012.

"The Town and the County have been working together since 2023 to update the current IGA but, there has been no action taken by either the Town or the County on the successor IGA and no action is planned at this time," wrote Hannah Hippely, long range planning manager with the county, in response to emailed questions. "The Town and the County continue to work together to develop a successor IGA to the current IGA and have proposed the extension to allow these conversations to continue while keeping the current IGA in place rather than letting it expire."

If approved, the agreement will be extended through June 30, 2025.
