On Jan. 27, Louisville City Council voted unanimously to hire Diana Langley as Louisville's next city manager. Council also appointed a two-member committee of Mayor Chris Leh and council member Judi Kern to negotiate a contract with Langley.
Once negotiations are complete, a start date will be announced.
Langley is the city manager for Yuba City, California. The city north of Sacramento had a population of just over 70,000 in 2020, according to U.S. Census data, compared to Louisville's 2020 population of 21,226.
"I am honored to have been selected by the City Council as Louisville's City Manager and am eager to serve the community," Langley said in a city press release. "Louisville is known for its rich history, charm, and strong civic engagement, and I look forward to working alongside the City Council and staff to continue Louisville's tradition of being a great place to live."
Louisville’s search for a new city manager began in August after the previous manager, Jeff Durbin, resigned while under investigation for an undisclosed matter. Four finalists were announced Jan. 6, followed by community meet-and-greets and interviews with city council.
“The quality of our finalists was terrific,” Mayor Leh said in a city press release. “It made the decision challenging, but that’s a good challenge to have. Diana’s leadership style, experience, and insights about Louisville challenges and opportunities deeply impressed the City Council. Our unanimous vote speaks volumes about the confidence we have in her moving forward.”
