ON THE BILL: Midwest emo torchbearers The Get Up Kids return to the Front Range with support from Chicago pop-punk pioneers The Smoking Popes at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood on Sept. 11. The tour marks the 25th anniversary of the Kansas-born quartet’s breakout classic, Something to Write Home About, re-released last month as a special deluxe edition from Polyvinyl Records. Before you go, check out a recent Boulder Weekly feature for more than a normal person would ever need to know about the five waves of emo.
