2012 Gift Guide Introduction

0

Happy holidays. Yep, it’s officially that time of year again, so you might as well get used to it. You know what we’re talking about, everyone smiling and throwing kindness your way in one form or another, including gifts. Aside from the TV commercials, it’s not that bad.

Speaking of gifts, Boulder County residents are so darn friendly this time of year that, based on national averages, they will be spending somewhere in the neighborhood of $88 million on holiday-related items between now and the end of the year. That’s enough green to send our local economy through the roof and create a fair number of jobs along the way. But that won’t happen unless all of us make a concerted effort to spend our holiday money with locally owned businesses as often as possible. Shopping local really is a big deal.

So our holiday wish here at Boulder Weekly is that you, our loyal readers, take the time to read this special edition that is focused on the importance and impacts of shopping local, including the reasons that doing so is critical to maintaining and even improving our quality of life here in Boulder County.

We’d also like to take this time to say thank you to all of our readers and advertising partners whose support throughout the year makes it possible for us to continue to be Boulder County’s independent voice for news, arts and entertainment.

So once again, happy holidays from all of us at BW and please remember to keep those dollars local as much as possible. It’s the best gift we can give to ourselves, and everyone in our community.
