Vail has started its ski and snowboard season for 2013-2014 with 10 trails open and four inches of new snow.

Vail Mountain, one of Colorado’s largest and most popular ski areas, is employing both natural snow and snowmaking in the early part of the year.

This season, Vail is debuting two new chairlifts, including a replacement/expansion of the Mountain Top Express Lift, #4, which went from a four-passenger to a six-passenger chairlift. The Gopher Hill Lift in Golden Peak is also going from a two-chair to a three-chair lift.
