Rosenberg is next chef at Hush

Top Chef Hosea Rosenberg, former chef of Jax Fish House, will be the next Hush Concepts chef, setting up a pop-up restaurant in a secret downtown Denver location on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29.

Hush is Colorado’s first traveling dining event. The location will be revealed to guests one week before the event. Dinner will take place at either 5:30 or 8:30 p.m., and will include a six-course tasting menu with signature cocktails and wines paired by Rosenberg’s partner, James Lee of Le Grand Bistro.

Amaro’s first wine dinner

On Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m., Alec Schuler, the chef and owner of Arugula Bar e Restaurant, and Sven Hedenas, the executive chef at Tangerine, are holding a wine dinner at the restaurant Amaro Drinkery Italia.

For the dinner, the chefs chose wines from the Veneto region of Italy to pair with their signature courses.

Reservations are required, and there is a limit of 35 seats. The cost is $79 per person. For reservations, call 303-443-5100.

The dinner will be the first of similar monthly events.

Colorado brews score big at GABF

Several Colorado breweries won medals at this year’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF) Competition, held Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 in Denver.

GABF is the largest commercial beer competition in the world, with 3,930 beers from 526 breweries vying for medals in 83 categories.

Several local breweries won medals for their beers. Longmont’s Oskar Blues Brewery won silver with its Deviant Dale’s brew in the American Style IPA category. Upslope Brewing Co. of Boulder won gold in the Field/Pumpkin category with its Upslope Pumpkin Ale, and Boulder’s Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery won silver with its Colorado Kind brew in the Extra Special Bitter category.

Ska Brewing Co. of Durango claimed a gold medal in the Sweet Stout category for its Steel Toe Stout.

Steak Room sets opening date

Peter and Mara Soutiere of Sushi Tora and Tahona Tequila Bistro have announced an opening date for their Pearl Street Steak Room: Oct. 24.

The restaurant is located between Tahona and The Kitchen [Next Door], and is a 30-seat dining room with a five-seat bar.

The Pearl Street Steak Room will feature natural and humanely raised beef and game, and will work with boutique vendors who offer unique flavor profiles in a variety of cuts. The restaurant will complement the meats with seasonal produce and a contemporary wine list.

The Steak Room will be open Tuesday through Saturday starting at 4:30 p.m.
