Fitness For Living has expanded its Fitness Boot Camps to
Louisville. The company, which has operated indoor and outdoor camps in
Boulder, Lafayette and Longmont for seven years, is offering the new camps in
Louisville’s Fireside Elementary gymnasium.
Each five-week Boot Camp session meets for 10
exercise-driven classes and is designed for a wide range of ability and fitness
levels. Activities include running relay races, hopping steps, hoisting
sandbags, negotiating an agility circuit or traversing an obstacle course.
“I love the fact that the workouts change every day and you
never know what you’re going to get,” commented Lee Ann Baronett, a camp
participant. “On top of that, having a group of people to help you through the
workout makes a big difference too.”
The new Louisville Boot Camps, which started Nov. 3, meet
Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Fireside. Additional camp
sessions will held Jan. 6 to Feb. 10 and Feb. 10 to March 17. The cost is
$145-$185 and includes before and after fitness assessments, body composition
tests and nutritional guidance.

Community partners honored
Boulder Housing Partners (BHP) has announced the winners of
its Partnership Award, recognizing individuals, businesses, government agencies
and nonprofits that support affordable housing and community efforts at BHP properties.
The winners include Mal Birke, a resident at Walnut Place who picks up day-old bread,
pastries and dairy from Safeway and distributes it to residents in need, and
Meals on Wheels Executive Director Francea Phillips, whose group provides
low-cost meals to the elderly and disabled, and partners with Special Transit
to transport residents to the West Senior Center for dinner and entertainment.
The other winners were Kelly Fanno of Kids and Cakes, which makes birthday
cakes for the elderly and others who would not otherwise get a birthday cake
because of being isolated or far away from family, and Jamie Miller of Odell
Architects, who helped bring the Denver Nuggets and Sport Court together to
build a new basketball court for Kalmia apartments, complete with a court
dedication ceremony attended by Rocky, the Nugget’s mascot, Erwin Johnson, a
former Nugget player, and Nuggets dancers.
Boulder Housing Partners, the housing authority that serves
the city of Boulder, has given its Partnership Award three times a year since
2004.
