Will appear via sattelite video

It was just announced that Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, will perform an interview at this year’s SXSW Interactive Conference in Austin, TX.

From the event announcement on the SXSW page…

WikiLeaks founder and publisher Julian Assange joins The Barbarian Group’s Benjamin Palmer via satellite video for a live conversation on Saturday, March 8 at 11 am at SXSW Interactive 2014.

The anti-censorship activist will engage in this extremely rare
public interview to discuss the pervasive spread of surveillance,
advantages and abuses of the digital age, and the future of democracy.

Assange is appearing via satellite rather than in person because he is
holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, trying to avoid arrest and
extradition to Sweden to face allegations of sexual assault, and has
been there for more than a year.

The key note address for the interactive conference will be given by astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
