Sudden embrace a symbol of Obama on campaign trail

President Barack Obama walked into Big Apple Pizza & Pasta in Fort Pierce, Fla. for a campaign stop, to greet the owner and congratulate him on his charitable foundation and frequent blood donations.

He walked out with a new friend, and probably some sore ribs.

Scott Van Duzer, the restaurant’s owner, launched into an impromptu embrace of Obama after a brief conversation. A photo of the moment has gone viral, and Van Duzer’s on the interview circuit to talk about the hug and the fact that he voted Obama in 2008 and plans to do so again this year.
