BMoCA’s Silver Screen Ball — Live music, video art installations, desserts and drinks in the museum’s new upstairs multipurpose room. The evening will feature an “Old Hollywood” atmosphere with one-night-only video pieces, reminiscent of the Golden Age of Cinema. The films feature local video artists Tres Altman and Alan O’Hashi of Boulder Community Media. The music line-up includes DJ Josh Haimes, Fellow Citizen and DJCJ. Attendees should dress in black, white, silver or red cocktail attire.Attendees will be treated to a champagne toast, compliments of the museum. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Leftover Salmon — The creators of Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass celebrate a 20-year legacy of New Year’s Eve shows in Boulder. Centro Latin Kitchen & Refreshment Palace (950 Pearl St., 303-442-7771) will have a four-course prix fixe dinner for $45 with optional wine and cocktail pairing available. Jax Fish House (928 Pearl St.,303-444-1811) will have a five-course NYE dinner at $75 per person with a $25 pairing option. The West End Tavern (926 Pearl St., 303-444-3535) hosts an all-night cocktail hour with Grease theme, champagne specials and a family-style BBQ. Zolo Southwestern Grill (2525 Arapahoe Ave., 303-449-0444) features a four-course New Year’s Eve prix fixe menu at $60 per person with $15 optional wine pairing. New Year’s Eve Gala Ball — One of the biggest, most elegant celebrations in Boulder takes place at the historic Hotel Boulderado. The Gala Ball Dinner-Dance Package includes a decadent five-course dinner and dancing in the lobby to the band Dressed in Black, which plays everything from Frank Sinatra to Aretha Franklin. Polar Plunge 2010 — Think you got what it takes to join in on the coldest fun around? Become a “plunger” and head down to the Boulder Reservoir on Jan.1 for a dip in the icy waters.Registration funds go to the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado. On Jan.1 at Boulder Reservoir. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the plunge starts at 11:30 a.m. All participants will receive a 2010 Polar Plunge long-sleeve T-shirt, Plunge certificate, refreshments and a dip in the hot tub!
