Skiers, sightseers, residents and mountain travelers of all kinds now have a new way of planning and improving their next trip along I-70: GoI70.com, a website and mobile phone application (http://goi70.com/mobile).
“GoI70.com is the single address that you need to plan your next trip to the Colorado high country,” says Tad Kline of the I-70 Mountain Corridor Coalition. “We have gathered together the best highway, weather, snow conditions and local information available and put it on a single web page. You can view current highway speeds, get tips for the best times to travel, or search for anything your heart desires — trailheads, shopping, parking, lodging, restaurants — anywhere along I-70 mountain corridor.”
The site includes road information from the Colorado Department of Transportation, Google and the network of GoI70 “Jackrabbits” — frequent users of the highway who post updates of current travel conditions. The Jackrabbits are part of a GoI70 social network where travelers can post their firsthand impressions of road conditions and keep up to date about what is going on along the I-70 corridor.
Since it went live just before Thanksgiving, the GoI70 website has had more than 2,300 unique visitors. Following GoI70 on Twitter lets users get up-to-the-minute information about changing highway conditions on their mobile phones.
The GoI70.com blog (http://goi70.com/wp) offers detailed travel forecasts for upcoming weekends and holidays, and tips for the best times to travel along I-70.
Travelers on the highway can text alerts on changing road conditions directly to your phone, or you can check http://goI70.com/mobile on your smart phone for the latest highway news and current travel speeds.
