Emerge: Colorado Latino Business Conference

7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, October 15. Plaza Event Center, 1900 Ken Pratt Blvd., Longmont

The Boulder County Latino Chamber of Commerce is hosting this year’s business conference, which will feature Lt. Governor Joe Garcia as the keynote speaker during the luncheon portion of the program.

One of the most innovative additions to this year’s conference is the “Young Rebels Competition,” which allows teams of Boulder County high school students to compete for nearly $9,000 in prize money.

According to the Latino Chamber, The Young Rebels Competition gives students “a chance to create an innovative solution to a problem facing their school, youth, their community, a particular industry or the world.” Student teams create a business plan to support their idea for an original product or service that will solve such a problem. Prize money will go to help make the solution a reality. Prize money includes $5,000 for first place, $2,500 for second place and $1,250 for third place.

Emerge features dozens of workshops on everything from starting a restaurant to entrepreneurship, social media to leadership training and life skills.
