Council should compensate Folsom businesses

I spent some time in Boulder Aug. 11 on business. I intended to avoid driving on Folsom, yet I found it necessary to do so for a very short distance. I will try harder in the future to insure complete evasion.

I wonder if businesses along Folsom may see reduced receipts over the next few months. If they do, perhaps they should seek out their city council to request compensation. If “right-sizing” is truly about flow and linkages, why not experiment on a street where the traffic count is minuscule, where very few or no commercial uses exist?

TAB spinning rightsizing to council

As a business owner in the heart of the gridlocked Folsom corridor, I decided to go to the Boulder Transportation Advisory Board meeting last night. I encountered an ideological phalanx composed of the board and the city transportation staff that were present. After public comment the advisory board coached the staff on how to market this experiment to the council and the people in an effort to make their experiment more palatable. Manipulate statistics omit some of the undecipherable data, anything to make their catastrophe look better. They appear interested in doing anything they can to sell this bill of goods and to put their stamp on the town. They also agreed not to try to close down Iris, 63rd St. etc. If public outcry diminishes those streets may be gridlock as well. I hope council can step up and demand some credibility for these missteps, terminate this snafu and look closely at any more packaged living laboratory experiments.

Those Irish

I enjoyed your piece on stoplights (Re: In case you missed it, Aug. 6). wI came here from upstate New York, where there is a stoplight in Syracuse, NY with the green light on top. I’m now 86, and my dad took me to see it in the 1930’s. Ah, the Irish. Here is one of the links to this oddity: http:// tinyurl.com/nz25sks Thanks. Your paper is the best.

About that Trump guy

Gee whiz people…why is everybody freaking out about Donald Trump? I mean just what’s a bored billionaire suppose to do? Because he’s had everything the poor guy has had to find a new way to overindulge. And what could be more perfect than the international and historical lights, cameras and action than running for the American Presidency?

When you add the fact that he can utilize it for therapeutic purposes such as hating certain people(s) publicly in primal scream form then wow it’s win, win all the way round I would guess.

In all seriousness though, Republican strategist have a loose cannon, looser than usual cannon that is on board. This is someone who like so many of the present cast of characters is nothing like that last, truly great Republican that so many respected General Dwight D. Eisenhower. And they should try to be like Ike.
