BEER AND BARBECUE IN LAFAYETTE

The fourth annual Boulder County BrewBQ (once known as the Lafayette Craft Brew & BBQ Festival) is returning to Lafayette’s Atlas Valley Shopping Center on Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

The event features more than 25 breweries and 10 barbecue joints. There will be competitions, exhibits, samples and much more. Live music will be provided as well, and kids activities like face painting and games will be happening. There are also hot dogs and hamburgers available at the main event stand.

All proceeds from the festival support the YMCA of Boulder Valley and the Boulder Rotary Club. Tickets are $30 for beer and barbecue, and $15 for just barbecue. Can’t go wrong with either of those options. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.ymcabv.org/brewbq.

BIKE AT NIGHT

Oskar Blues and Bicycle Longmont are bringing back their popular and unique G’Knight Ride on June 13 with a full day of events, food and drink.

The G’Knight Ride is an annual benefit featuring evening bike rides around Longmont. There are three bike routes that leave Roosevelt Park around 5 p.m., varying based on ability and age. About 3,000 people are expected to ride.

Starting at 2 p.m., however, are food trucks, vendors and activities at the park. At 4:30 p.m. the Oskar Blues beer garden opens. By 9 p.m., everyone is back at the park, having completed a ride, and then the after party kicks off at Long’s Peak Pub and Tavern.

Bicycle Longmont is a local group that puts on bike rides and advocates for making the area more bike-friendly. The event is named for Gordon Knight, a local brewing pioneer who passed away in 2002.

Tickets range in price depending on what activities you’d like to participate in, but an adult riding pass and entry to the festival costs $28 and is available at www.gknightride.org. Tickets are cheaper for kids and for those not riding.

BOULDER BLOCK PARTY

The second annual Boulder Block Party returns to The Studio in Boulder on Friday, June 12 from 6-11 p.m.

The event is a celebration of the local creative scene and is hosted by a number of arts advocates and creators. Music will be provided by Captain Planet and Josh Ivy. Sponsors include Upslope Brewing Company, Suerte Tequilla, Deep Eddy Vodka and the Brea Wine Co., who will be providing drinks.

The $10 required donation will go directly to the Emergency Family Assistance Association in Boulder. Tickets are required and available at bdrblockpart2015.eventbrite.com.
