Run Free – The True Story of Caballo Blanco

7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, The Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder, 303-440- 7826.

If you’ve ever found yourself curious about the practice of ultrarunning, running beyond 26.2 miles, look no further than Run Free. This documentary recounts the life of ultrarunning pioneer and Boulder native Micah True. Known by his nickname of “Caballo Blanco” (or “white horse” in Spanish), True founded the Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon in Urique, Mexico and was highly involved in the community, until his untimely death in 2012 while on a run in the Gila Wilderness of New Mexico. Matthew McConaughey will star in an upcoming film based on True’s life, making this screening a chance for viewers to see “Caballo Blanco” in action before his story becomes a major motion picture.
