SNACKS AND BOOKS

The Boulder Public Library is about to taste a lot better. Seeds Café will open inside the library in early April and will dish out local fare seven days a week during library hours.

The café will serve fresh sandwiches, soups, salads and baked goods, and the restaurant says it will source at least 70 percent of its food locally.

There will also be an exciting coffee program that will source beans globally, depending on the season.

“If you think about coffee as a crop, it makes sense that the raw, unroasted beans have a peak season of harvest. Because different regions of the world reach this peak season at different times, we can always find an origin — whether Latin America, East Africa or Indonesia — where the coffee is more vibrant, more alive than it might be at another time of the year,” said Matthew Kay, who will run the coffee program, in a press release.

The café will also partner with Boulder County Farmers Markets and Boulder Public Library for events such as coffee workshops, picnics and pop-up dinners.
