EAT OUT FOR THANKSGIVING

About the only thing more full of holiday cheer than that one uncle everyone tries not to talk about, is doing all the dishes after the big meal. Fun times.

Between that and the fact that turkeys are hard to cook, more and more people are choosing to eat out for their Thanksgiving meals, allowing them to leave the cooking and preparation to the professionals so they can enjoy quality food and quality time with loved ones, instead of just checking in with the fam in-between bastings.

Here are some Boulder eateries that will be dishing the goods on Turkey Day.

JILL’S AT THE ST JULIEN

Tired of a papier-mâché centerpiece and a Hungry Man dinner? Flip the script with a candlelit dinner buffet featuring Alaskan king crab legs, poached tiger shrimp and beef Wellington along with the traditional Thanksgiving options of turkey, potatoes and green beans. Jill’s specializes in French-inspired cuisine and the French gave us the Statue of Liberty, so it’s about time we give them a crack at Thanksgiving.

Call the St Julien for more information or reservations. 720-406-9696.

C LAZY U RANCH

Sometimes dinner just isn’t enough — you need a full-body holiday. And for those Clark Griswolds out there, the Thanksgiving retreat at C Lazy U Ranch is the place to be.

You will get to celebrate the American holiday at a true American Western ranch, soaking up all of the American-ness you can. The event entails a fullweekend of accommodations at the guest ranch as well as indoor and outdoor activities in the “hearty Western atmosphere,” and a gourmet meal on Thanksgiving day.

COLTERRA

If you’re like us here at Boulder Weekly, then every year you swear this will be the one that you farm-raise your Thanksgiving dinner from seed to centerpiece, and then promptly, you know, “do something else.”

Don’t worry. Niwot’s swankiest eatery, Colterra, is on the case.

Colterra is doing a three-course prix fixe dinner for $65 a person from 2-7 p.m., with choices ranging from the traditional slow roasted turkey dinner, to the less traditional holiday meal of pan roasted mahi-mahi with prawns.

See the full menu at www.Colterra.com, and call 303-652-0777 for reservations.

TED’S MONTANA GRILL

Plymouth Rock? On the East Coast?

Snore. That’s so 1621. Thanksgiving is all about Montana now.

So get in the spirit by celebrating Thanksgiving with Ted’s Montana Grill, who will be offering its regular menu as well as a special roast turkey feast, which includes whole-roasted turkey with gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, herb dressing, buttered carrots, squash casserole, cranberry sauce, a side salad or cup of soup, and apple pecan crisp. Thanks, Ted.

Call 303-449-5546 to make reservations.

MURPHY’S

With two locations in Boulder, Murphy’s is on the case no matter which end of town you’re on. The classic American-style restaurant will be doing up turkey roasted in sage butter with apple cider gravy, yams with marshmallow and maple syrup and all the rest of the goods to go with ‘em. Dinner is $26 per person. Call ahead for reservations.
