MR. SUN GOES TO LONGMONT

Since its opening in 1993, Mountain Sun has been on a slow and steady winning streak, with two additional locations in Boulder and one in Denver. Continuing that trend, the chain just opened its fifth location, Longs Peak Pub and Taphouse in Longmont.

The newest addition to the family offers the same famed pub menu and 21 beers on tap as the other Mountain Sun restaurants, including at least 16 of their own beers brewed right here in Boulder. The “World Famous” Mountain Sun Margaritas and seven wines are also ready for pouring. Mountain Sun says the new location features one of the best patios in the company, complete with cornhole and shaded picnic tables. Located at 600 Longs Peak Ave., Longmont, the pub is currently open at 4 p.m. every day, serving food until 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends.

WINTER IS SHORT, EAT JILL’S AT THE ST JULIEN’S FREE DESSERT FIRST

As a fine-dining bistro that serves “contemporary American” cuisine with a French influence, famed for their savory reggiano cheese and truffle aioli tater tots, Steak au Poivre, and Colorado lamb, Jill’s at the St Julien is no slouch in the dessert department.

And as if they need to prove it, this fall and winter season, from 5:30-10 p.m, seven days a week, all dinner guests 21 and over will be served a complimentary helping of a special dessert: the White Monk.

Not to be confused with a White Russian, the White Monk is an elegant dessert cocktail that is a combination of a smooth blend of Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream and coffee topped with whipped cream and chocolate powder.

On Wednesdays you can pair your dinner and free dessert with a half-priced bottle of wine from a select menu. Mon Dieu!

OIL & VINEGAR BOUTIQUE OPENING IN BROOMFIELD

Oil and vinegar. Simple. Classic. Delicious. Those two little ingredients have so many micro-variations in variety and taste they need their own store for the true enthusiast.

Well, come the grand opening of Oil and Vinegar in Broomfield on Saturday, Oct. 25, that will be the case.

The name Oil and Vinegar captures the bare essence of what they’ll be vending, but Oil and Vinegar the store is all things of the Mediterranean culinary tradition. The boutique store will be rocking an international selection of more than 50 oils and vinegars, products from domestic and international origins ranging from mustards, sauces, olives, chocolates and pastas to ceramic table wares, cookbooks and other culinary treasures from around the Mediterranean.

About the only Mediterranean item it won’t offer is a honeymoon in Nice.

For everything else, guests are invited to taste and smell before buying.
