EROICA

This two-part film by Polish director Andrzej Munk examines the Warsaw Uprising and the attempt by Polish citizens to resist their German occupiers. IFS. September 17, 7:30 p.m. only, Muenzinger Auditorium.

FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS

This is a fact-filled, acid-inspired fiction film starring Johhny Depp as journalist Raoul Duke, and Benicio Del Toro as his sidekick attorney as they head to Vegas to not cover a motorcycle race while doing copious amounts of drugs. THE FISHER KING

An imaginative and touching film about a narcissistic talk radio host (Jeff Bridges) and a wacked homeless man (Robin Williams) who go on a quest in New York City that just might save them both. IFS. September 12, 7:30 p.m. only. At Muenzinger Auditorium.

FRANK

An offbeat comedy about a young wannabe musician who finds himself out of his depth when he joins an avant-garde pop band led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank and his terrifying bandmate Clara. At Boedecker. — Boedecker Theater

GOD HELP THE GIRL

Set in Glasgow, Scotland, this pop-musical is about a girl called Eve who deals with her emotional problems through songwriting. She finds herself in the city, where she meets James and Cassie, two musicians each at crossroads of their own. What follows is a story of renaissance over the course of a long, dream-like summer. THE NEW YORK FILM CRITICS SERIES: HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS

These live, national, in-theater screenings events are moderated by Peter Travers, film critic for Rolling Stone magazine. Watch a live via-internet interview with actor Simon Pegg and director Peter Chelsom after the preview screening of their new comedy, Hector and the Search for Happiness. NIGHT MOVES

TO BE TAKEI

George Takei played Sulu in the original Star Trek series and he is also a gayrights activist. He is as at home testifying before Congress as he is signing autographs at Comic Con. Bottom line, his life makes for a great doc. IFS. September 16, 7:30 only, Muenzinger Auditorium.

WE ARE THE BEST

Lukas Moodysson’s breakout 2002 film Lilya 4-ever was a grim portrait of a teenager descending into prostitution and slavery. With We Are the Best! Moodysson returns to teenaged protagonists. His protagonists this time are treated with the perfect blend of love and freedom both by their parents and by their director. IFS. September 14, 7:30 p.m. only. At Muenzinger Auditorium. — IFS
