SPRINGTIME IS FOR LOVERS

Unfortunately, it’s still f@#$ing February, which is a time for forcing romance on an unwitting public so they can make it through the winter doldrums and reach spring without telling their partners what they really think of that noise they make in their sleep and then spending a cozy evening for one on the couch. You know, Valentine’s Day.

And for those looking to have love enforced on them in style (or to demonstrate your financial worth in order to increase your likelihood of “scoring”), the following is BW’s roundup of some hot haps to heal your hunger and have your heart humming.

ZOLO GRILL

The always-excellent Zolo Grill in Boulder will be hosting a four-course prix fixe dinner for V-day, featuring oysters, crab and black bean cakes, roasted squash and chile bisque, lobster tamales, braised lamb shank and chile cheesecake.

The prix fixe is $45. Reservations are available by calling 303-449-0444.

OAK AT FOURTEENTH

Oak at Fourteenth will be doing its thing with classy American food, serving roasted chicken and mushroom soup, sweet potato and sage ravioli with crispy duck leg confit and smoked ricotta cheese, and grilled quail with Gruyère cheese and chestnut stuffing over four courses.

That one will run you $70 before tax and tip.

Call 303-444-3622 to make reservations.

KACHINA SOUTHWESTERN GRILL

Kachina Southwestern Grill in Westminster will also be going for a quantity of courses, with a three-course menu featuring pork tamales and rack of lamb with tepary beans, pimento butters asparagus, a mustard demi-glace and house-made mint jelly. After that, chocolate-dipped strawberries, prickly pear truffles and cola cake.

Select items on the menu will also be available a la carte for those that prefer foodie freedom over the totalitarianism of menu-planning.

Dinner will run you $40. Contact 303-410- 5813 for reservations.

THE HUCKLEBERRY

Louisville is also for lovers, thanks to the three-course dinner going down at The Huckleberry.

Lovers will start with their choice of savory bread pudding, crab fritters or roasted butternut squash ravioli, before choosing from roasted chicken, grilled beef tenderloin, mango chili mahi and wild mushroom polenta, and finish things off with their choice of chocolate lava cake or raspberry swirl cheesecake. That dinner costs $29 per person and includes a glass of the bubbly. Call 303-666-8020 to make reservations.

SHINE

Downtown good vibesery Shine will be dishing out treats like butternut squash ravioli and mushroom bisque, and doing up some special dishes with lamb and beef, but the big shiny will be coming from the entertainment. There will be a free dance party in observance of V-Day and One Billion Rising for Justice from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and then the Rocky Mountain Kings and Boulder Burlesque will perform a “Draglesque” show at 8:30 p.m. that should run until just after midnight. Tickets for that show are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and are available at www.boulderburlesque.com.

ZUCCA ITALIAN RISTORANTE

If you’re looking for a menu that doesn’t zuck, this may be the one. Zucca is doing four courses for the 14th, starting out with seared

buffalo tenderloin or dungeoness crab cakes for appetizers, then the choice of a chervil crepe or a shaved Brussels sprout and cured pork tenderloin salad. Then there’s the choice of a roasted quail with creamy polenta and mustard green, milk-braised lamb with root vegetable gnocchi, seared scallops with sweet pea rissotto, or saffron fettucine with olive croquettes, followed by your choice of brioche or a white chocolate mousse.

That four-courser will run you $49 per person.

Reservations are available by calling 303-666- 6499.
