Energy efficiency upgrades offered

The City of Boulder is giving owners of rental properties free energy-efficiency upgrades as part of the SmartRegs project. The program is providing a limited number of case study properties with an energy analysis and energy efficiency retrofits to help the city measure the costs and benefits of the SmartRegs proposal to be delivered to City Council in early summer 2010.

“Providing free energy efficiency upgrades to rental property owners as well as collecting important data for this project creates a win-win situation,” said Yael Gichon, spokesperson for the SmartRegs project. “We encourage anyone who meets the criteria to apply.”

At no cost to the property owner, buildings/units will be analyzed for energy efficiency, and upgrades will be completed to meet proposed energy efficiency code requirements. A complete program application, including building criteria and program conditions, can be found at www.bouldercolorado.gov/pds/smartregs/application.

Applications, due by Jan. 15, can be submitted online, by e-mail or by fax.
