The Fitter
1352 College Ave. / 303-442-4200
savvy
Pearl Street Mall, 1114 Pearl St. / 303-440-3989

The Fitter on the Hill has been a favorite local retailer for 35 years. Although their image and merchandise has changed over the years, it remains an eclectic store that continues to cater to college students. The Fitter offers a large selection of vaporizers, glass pipes, hookahs, quality tubes such as RooR, PHX and Illadelph, and other smoking accessories. They also sell clothing lines, including Free People, Billabong, Junk Food, Electric sunglasses, Seedless, UGG, Rainbow and Reef. Feeling the need to expand their clientele to reach more of Boulder, the owners of the Fitter decided to open a store in downtown Boulder. Savvy on Pearl opened in May 2007 and has been a much needed addition to the Pearl Street retail selection. Although Savvy and The Fitter are both owned by the same family and carry some of the same brands, the two stores are quite different. Savvy  specializes in clothing for women, men and children and has the largest selection of UGG boots in Boulder — more than 40 different styles. You can find a mix of brands and price ranges at Savvy, including Ella Moss, Ed Hardy, Free People, T-Bags, RVCA, Robin's Jeans, LRG, Twisted Heart and a large selection of handbags, jewelry and accessories. The atmosphere is fun, the music is trendy, and so are the clothes. So this season, when you are looking for ideas for holiday gifts or holiday fashions, remember to support local businesses and check out what The Fitter and Savvy have to offer.

The Western Craftsman
www.thewesterncraftsman.com / 720-261-2562

I have been building furniture for 40 years and have been seriously dedicated to the craft for the past 22 years. When I was a child, my grandfather kept a supply of short wood and nails and provided some “special tools” (ones that I could not ruin), and I spent a lot of time when I visited in his shop building things. I have always had a creative streak and took shop and art classes in high school, studying art at the University of Colorado and earning a BFA.  Back then, I was painter and sculptor. Everything had some wood component.  Some of it was furniture in disguise. After I graduated, raising a family was the focus, and so I dropped the painting (more or less, I dabble) and concentrated my creative energy on furniture.
I am dedicated to serving my customer’s needs for custom furniture, doors and other woodworking. My goal is 100 percent customer satisfaction. I work in the Mission, Craftsman and Greene and Greene traditions.  All of the designs are original. Replicas of antique pieces are a good way to have an unobtainable piece for your home, but I enjoy the creative and designing processes, and so I don’t copy.  Let me submit a design for your special job.
—Gary Wetzbarger.
