BOULDER Barbara Paris and Mark Klagstad — This duo will be performing classic jazz, and some tunes from George and Ira Gershwin, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Cole Porter. The Centennial Celebration — This New Year’s Eve marks a special celebration for our beautiful Hotel Boulderado — it’s their 100th birthday! Yes, one-zero-zero. To mark the occasion, the Boulderado is offering several packages. You can enjoy the “all access” Gala Ball (five-course dinner for two, an overnight stay in the hotel, horse and carriage ride and a commemorative gift), Overnight Salsa (overnight stay for two and access to a swinging good time), or the Salsa Dance Party with one of the best salsa bands around, Quemando. CMKY Presents New Year’s Eve — With SMIRK and Steven Ganser, and videos by Pants and Friends. Dan Treanor and the Afrossippi Blues Band — With special guests, The Blackdog Trio. The Gold Hill Inn is a legend with its rustic interior and Boulder County history. Dance Party at Avalon Ballroom — Sponsored by American Vernacular Dance. Ring in the New Year by dancing the night away. From 8 p.m. until midnight, you can move your legs to waltz, swing, tango, foxtrot, blues and other couples dances at the Avalon Ballroom. Live music by Sandra Wong and Rodney Sauer will accompany from 8:30 until 10:45. DJ Frank Vernon will also be dishing out the tunes throughout the evening. Add to that a dance performance by Watch Your Step!, a champagne toast and a potluck for an evening of entertainment and community. Lotus — Boulder loves to jam, and NYE is no exception. These boys from Philly splice a bit of funk, a bit of rock, a bit of jam and a dose of electronic. What’s not to love? New Year’s Day at St. Julien — After celebrating the night away, you can head right back to the lovely St. Julien for a special New Year’s Day brunch with seatings at 11 and 11:30 a.m., and again at 1:30 and 2 p.m.. New Year’s Eve at Boulder’s Dinner Theatre — Dinner, show, champagne and dancing all under one roof! Kick back and let the talented folks at BDT entertain you with the hit Mel Brooks musical, The Producers. New Year’s Eve at St. Julien — Ring in the New Year with some class at St. Julien Hotel & Spa. Enjoy the horn-infused blues and soul music of Chris Daniels & The Kings. For $75, you can take in the entertainment, a cocktail, party favors, dessert bugget and a midnight champagne toast. New Year’s Eve Dinner at The Rio — Get spicy this year by ringing in the season at The Rio. For New Year’s Eve, they will be extending their bar hours until 12:30 a.m. and offering a complimentary champagne toast. New Year’s Eve Dinner at The Kitchen — Join The Kitchen as they celebrate both the New Year and their third birthday! They will offer a seasonal menu with their most popular dishes, an open bar and the sounds of DJ Russo. Of course, there will be a midnight toast with the finest champagne and 2009 Culinary Resolution prizes. The four-course prix fixe is $75 per person, $100 with pairings. New Year’s Eve Two Thousand and Ate — All the Big Red F restaurants are ringing in 2009 in a big way. Centro Latin Kitchen (950 Pearl St., 303-442-7771) will have a three-course prix fixe dinner with Centro Coin and champagne toast for $35 per person. Jax Fish House (928 Pearl St., 303-444-1811) will have a five-course NYE dinner at $75 per person with a $25 pairing option. The laid-back West End Tavern (926 Pearl St., 303-444-3535) will be hopping it up with a six-special hoppy beer selection and food specials. And last but not least, Zolo Southwestern Grill will have a three-course prix fixe menu at $48 per person, and a limited à la carte menu.
The Polar Plunge — Think you got what it takes to join in on the coldest fun around? Become a “plunger” and head down to the Boulder Reservoir on Jan. 1 for a dip in the icy waters. This annual tradition will leave you shivering, but for a good cause: registration funds go to the Alzheimer’s Association. On Jan. 1 at Boulder Reservoir. Richie Furay Band — This is an annual Rock N Soul tradition of good food and good music with Richie Furay and crew. Furay is a rock legend and a Boulderite, and Rock N Soul is sure to be the place for one of the best NYE shows around. Tickets are $50 and include music, dinner and champagne toast. Rose Hill Drive — Boulder’s very own classic rockers will be paying tribute this year. Celebrating yet another NYE at Boulder Theater, Rose Hill Drive will be performing Led Zeppelin II in its entirety in addition to a set of their own originals. COPPER MOUNTAIN New Year’s Disco Evening — Copper’s got one of the best NYE celebrations in the state. Their Burning Stones Plaza will be transformed into Studio 54 for a night of disco, dancing and spectacular fireworks. DENVER AREA All Ages Show at Comedy Works — Featuring Eddie Gossling. Cost is $25-$75. Festivities include a champagne toast, midnight buffet, party favors and laugh-your-ass-off comedy.
