Tap into the season
Boulder Beer Company, 2880 Wilderness Pl., Boulder, 303-44-8448.

Boulder Beer Company was Colorado’s first microbrewery, and it hasn’t stopped producing the goods. This weekend, the brewery will be tapping two of its seasonal brews: Never Summer Ale and Obovoid Oak-Aged Oatmeal Stout. Never Summer Ale is perfect for the increasingly chilly days, and has been described as perfect “for the drinking town with a skiing problem.” It’s got a ruby red color, and is hopped and brewed with caramel malt. The Obovoid Oak-Aged Oatmeal Stout is a creamy brew with a deep, dark flavor and a chocolate finish. To celebrate these winter treats, Boulder Beer will be throwing a bash for each. Never Summer’s tapping party is on Oct. 16 and Obovoid’s is Oct. 17. Both events are from 4 to 8 p.m. at the brewery and include discounted pints, games and prizes. For more information, contact Boulder Beer at 303-444-8448.

Where the wild things are
Wild Mountain Smokehouse & Brewery, 70 E. 1st St., Nederland, 303-258-9453.

If you’re still not satisfied after tapping into Boulder Beer’s winter brews, it might be time to head up the road to Ned. On Oct. 22, Nederland’s Wild Mountain Smokehouse & Brewery will be hosting a Beer Dinner. This four-course extravaganza will combine the finest in local dining and brews. Included are mussels, salad, macadamia nut encrusted halibut, stout-braised Colorado beef short ribs and molten chocolate cake. The meal is prepared by Chef Darren Lidstrom, and beers headed by Wild Mountain Brewer Tom Boogaard. The Beer Dinner is $45 per person and begins at 6 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 303-258-9453.

Climbing up the mountain
Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St., Boulder, 303-786-7030.

And speaking yet again of beer, BW favorite Mountain (and Southern!) Sun Pub and Brewery is hosting a celebration of their 15 years in our lovely town on Oct. 18 at the Boulder Theater. The evening will celebrate the Mountain Sun family of pubs, places where community and top-notch brews come first. The event, 15 Years of Funky Good Times, will serve as a benefit to local radio outfit KGNU. On stage will be a one-time musical collaboration dubbed the Pearl Street All-Stars, a conglomerate of members from Funky Meters, The String Cheese Incident, The Motet, and other local faves. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. and tickets are $23 in advance and $24.50 the day of the show.
